A Bit About Me Rochelle's Healing Journey: Embracing Rest and Recovery
Rochelle’s healing journey began as she traveled from Australia to Antalya, where she would undergo significant surgeries to reclaim her confidence. The most important lesson she learned during this time was the value of REST.
Arriving in Antalya, Rochelle spent six nights in the hospital, followed by eight nights at a beautiful coastal hotel. The first few days were challenging; moving slowly was the name of the game. Each time she got up to walk to the bathroom, it felt like a small victory. Sleep became her ally, allowing her body to recover from the surgeries.

Determined to embrace her healing, Rochelle ventured to the café as soon as she could manage. The gentle strolls along the Mediterranean coast became a symbol of her resilience, marking the start of her recovery journey. With the sun on her face and the sound of waves in the background, she felt a sense of renewal.

Upon returning to Melbourne, the healing continued. Rochelle incorporated silicon tape and lymphatic massages to help alleviate swelling. During her third week, she was cautious about her activities; a slight opening in her scar, caused by feeling unwell on the flight home, required her to take extra care. For six weeks, she had a small area of her scar redressed, which meant no baths. Despite the limitations, she focused on walking as much as possible and gently stretching with resistance bands and somatic yoga.

Finally, after weeks of patience and gradual recovery, Rochelle returned to the gym, having consulted a physiotherapist to ensure she didn’t jeopardize her muscle repair. The journey had led to the removal of three kilograms of loose skin from her breasts and another three from her stomach, along with significant muscle repair.

Through it all, Rochelle learned that healing is not just about physical recovery but also about nurturing herself with kindness and patience. She emerged from this experience not only physically transformed but also with a deeper understanding of her own strength and the importance of self-care.

Now, as she shares her journey, Rochelle inspires others to embrace rest as a vital part of healing, reminding them that sometimes, the best thing you can do for yourself is to take a step back and allow your body to recover.
